I’m hot, according to Brandon, Joshua and Tong. That’s because of my high body temperature.
I can’t believe that some teacher can be so loathed by students. I shall not say who is he because I need to be race/culture-conscious. I think that maybe it’s because of bad Feng Shui. You know, when your office is the nearest to the lift. However, that may not be the case. Miss Tan Yen Yen shares the same room as him but she’s such a amiable teacher.
According to Mr. Dennis Sim, different students need different methods of teaching. Some need model answers given to them while some don’t. I think that it is just like different teachers have different methods of teaching, we should respect their preferred way and teachers should respect students’ favoured way of learning too.
To me, learning something consists of doing things the right way. Otherwise, you would be wasting your time doing the wrong things thinking that you’re right. For example, when solving a Mathematical problem sum, we need to be guided step-by-step to know whether we’re right or wrong. If not, we’ll continue to be wrong. We should not be criticised as bullshit for whatever we’ve written or said. Students don’t feel motivated that way. If we can provide model answers, we don’t need to go to school.
If students can give answers close to the answer scheme, it can guarantee us marks and that is what we students strive to achieve. Therefore, by learning to answer questions through model answers, we can improve our answers.
Learning through model answers should not be called spoon feeding. It’s what I called smart-ness or shortcut. It’s a win-win situation. The Japanese are able to create great electronics because they examine other people’s products. They disintegrate the products to find out what are inside. After that, they improvise the products and make it theirs. I think it is really smart. We should learn from them. Learn from the model answers, improve the model answers then give our answers.
Sometimes we need to memorise things before we can understand some things. For example, isn’t Global Geography Tourism about memorising destinations and countries before you can know that there is such a place? Yes, and memorising the steps or procedures of the Front Office in Introduction to Hotel & Resort Operations so that you can understand the stuff that receptionists do.
Those are just my opinions. And yes, the teacher told Brandon and I that the class is useless on Tuesday and condemned us on Wednesday.
Mr. Rudy complimented our class while the son-of-a-mother-teacher condemned us.
Enough of these. Time for less serious stuff.
There was a steam boat and lan gaming gathering on Friday with hunks - Brandon, Hui Jue, Joshua, Tong, Weida and me. Had lots of fun, like very brotherly and family. Haha. It was really like playing lan games at a lan shop, just that it was very small and kind of squeezed. Very random was the word of the day and we had lots of fun describing ‘very random’ and giving examples. After sending them home, I cleaned up for a while and dropped dead on the sofa until Sis woke me up.
Saturday was Sis’ Birthday Eve celebration. After my guitar lesson, I headed to Marina Square to shop. I had a hard time finding the present. Most shops don’t have grey jeans. Luckily for my best-est best friend, I managed to find it. It was rather awkward for such a macho man to step into ladies shops. However, I was manly enough to go in. I saw two in Zara, one in Topshop and one in Mango. Mango has a pair of very pale grey jeans which I’m not sure whether it’s straight cut or tapered. There are some studs at the back pocket and I think that it’s nice because I chose it.
There was a buffet. The food was really nice. I must really salute my Sis. She had more than thirty friends coming to our house! So many that I had to surrender my room and resort to standing around the house. And yes, my house was like a casino with people playing Mahjong and dices and drinking and smoking. They drank Martell and twenty four cans of Heineken. After most people had left, we had chivas and played cards and number games. I’m a better drinker than my Sis. Ha! I’m feeling really arrogant now. Birthday Girl drank only one cup.
I slept really late and woke up really late as well. There was buffet again on Sunday. The buffet was bigger because we have a lot of relatives. So Sis had two birthday cakes in total. Maybe she can have two birthday wishes. Haha. I’m so smart. Oh boy, buffet plus birthday cake plus alcohol plus buffet plus birthday cake equal getting fat.
There will be BLAW Tutorial on Monday. Sian na.
