Dear bloggy, I am really sorry for neglecting ya. Please do not be angry or sad.
Last week, I cycled to East Coast Park and it was super scary.
As I slept at about 7pm the night before, I woke up very early the next day. Since I couldn’t fall asleep anymore, I decided to go cycling at about 4.30am. Actually, I wanted to go jogging. However, as it was still quite dark, I feel that cycling is a better idea.
It was shiok as there were not many cars at that time.
However, as I cycled along the big drain, I felt as though I was being watched. The reflected lights from the lampposts on the waters were like zillions of eyes. These terrifying eyes seemed to be staring hard and scrutinizing my every movement, as if waiting for the right opportunity to strike. The sounds they produced seemed to be calling for my help and beckoning me to go down. I wondered what lurked underneath the waters as I paddled on, faster and faster with each cycle.
I tried not to look at the waters. I turned my head and saw white walls. They seemed like faces smiling and waving to me slowly. I mumbled a prayer as my heart palpitated hard against my chest. I didn’t respond to ‘them’ and I cycled on, feigning as if I saw nothing.
Then, I saw a black cat by the side. It glared at me with its big and round but intimidating eyes. It moaned at me, as though telling to go home. I ignored its advice because going back would make me a chicken.
I paddled and paddled and had finally reached the opposite site of East Coast Park. Only the two-way road lied in between the park and me. I got off my bike and pushed it up the overhead bridge. Suddenly, I heard heavy footsteps following behind me. I dared not look behind. I pushed my bike with all my might and as fast as I could.
There was an elderly couple in front of me. I heaved a sigh of relieve as I thought that they might be able to help me. However, as I got nearer to them, the footsteps behind me miraculously disappeared. I was gald. I apologized to the couple and overtook them. I didn’t take a look at their faces because I may not know what I would see. I hopped onto my bike and finally reached East Coast Park. I realized that the couple didn’t intend to go to East Coast Park. They were at walking to and forth at the bridge.
East Coast Park was not as frightening because there were many people there. I really hoped that the people whom I saw were really people. I kept cycling around there and didn’t want to go home so early because I didn’t want to face the same route again. I wanted to wait for the Sun to rise first before going home. Then suddenly, something struck my mind. I need to cycle for half an hour more because of Singapore’s Daylight Saving of half an hour.
